Hamas doesn’t deserve sympathy for losing a war its own brutality started

It’s time to call out those among the Left who are excusing the actions of Hamas terrorists in their attack on Israel. Put bluntly, while the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza is horrible, it’s hard to feel sorry for people who are losing a war their government not only started, but began with extreme brutality and extreme sexual violence. How did they expect Israel to respond? With flowers and gifts?

It’s also hard to feel sympathy for those on the Left who have made a career of blaming conservatives for their alleged denigration of women, while they now defend what these Gazans did in their attack on Israel. It’s important to recognize that some on the Left are appropriately horrified by the attack on Israel, are condemning it in the severest of terms, and are saying that while they don’t like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — בנימין נתניהו, they understand Israel had to respond, and has to eliminate the people who did what was done in the Oct. 7 attack. That part of the American and international Left deserves credit for its consistency. Conservatives should actively encourage them as they seek to expose people who are so blinded by hatred against Israel that they cannot understand that Hamas is an evil organization that views their supporters in the American and international Left as “useful idiots.”
