Eric Greitens: A candidate who could hand Missouri’s US Senate seat to Democrats

I haven’t written much for many years about Eric Greitens, the former Missouri governor who was forced out of office and is now running for the US Senate. Now that people far outside Missouri are blaming our state for harboring people who think like him and post online videos promoting “RINO hunting” against so-called “Republicans in Name Only,” it’s time for conservative Missouri Republicans who are uncomfortable with Greitens to speak up.

Let’s start by quoting Dallas Ernst, a former head of the Missouri Federation of College Republicans who campaigned for Greitens in his race for governor and helped Greitens after he was elected. In his words: “Eric Greitens is an abuser, a blackmailer, and less than ten years ago — a Democrat. There is no basement too low for him to cover up his past Obama support and blindfold Missourians into believing he represents their values. To be clear: The only RINO featured in Eric Greitens’ web video is himself.”

Dallas Ernst comes from a family with deep roots in rural Missouri. His father, Dave Ernst, for many decades owned a local motorcycle dealership and is now the Pulaski County Clerk. His mother, Sherry Ernst, is a retired Waynesville teacher and the former head of the Pulaski County Missouri Republicans club. Dallas Ernst has seen Greitens “up close and personal,” and his comments are those of a person who realizes, as our former State Rep.
